Big E, optima can use 5W30? How come my sc uses 5W50 during my 1st service? And my SC charge RM50 for ATF. That makes me wonder whether they change 4 litres of ATF on my optima. Funny lah. No consistent standard.
I would say that RM377.10 is cheap compare to my previous waja. Average servicing cost for the waja is RM300++ without the cost of the engine oil as I usually use my own engine oil. And ATF for waja usually cost me RM100+

I was confused on the recommended engine oil weight for the optima. I called up Naza careline and was told that the recommended engine oil weight is 5W40. It was mentioned that KIA Korea had put up the specs for Malaysia.

Hi all, why some of us need 4l engine oil but some need 5L during servicing?

Yeah... mine was 5l, and it seems that diff SC use diff engine oils too. If we get to choose oils... I think I'll bring my own Mobil 1 on the next service. The one they put in was "1 Syn" brand, 10W-30.

Aiya, that was what I highlighted earlier. The SC do not maintain uniformity in servicing. Mine, the SC changed 4l during the 1st service while the manual said 4.3l. I guess they did not drain all the oil, because when I checked the dipstick it was at the full mark. The engine oil viscosity is also non-standard. Common among forummers is 10w/5w30. But mine the SC used 5w50. I asked Naza careline and they said its 10w40 or 5w40. Can't remeber which is which. And SC charge me RM50 for ATF.
I hope NazaKia reads this forum and take note and action on our grouses. They should maintain a unifrom standard, as otherwise it would defeat the purpose of sending the car to authorised SC.

I don't think so they do not drain all the oil since the drain plug removed and oil filter changed. But , FYI I only using Caltex engine oil(energy) & never try other brands. Does the viscosity determine the oil volume?

I dont think the oil volume is directly related to the oil viscosity. The latter is more of how the oil behave in different temperature range, i.e. hot (whether the oil thickness can protect the engine under severe driving conditions) and cold (how thin it is to facilitate easy flow to all parts of the engine). I suspect the SC didn't drain the oil in total, as otherwise I cannot explain the full mark with 4 litres of oil change, unless they mix it with other left over oil. Scary wo.
