I have bought a 04 Optima 2 months ago. I am satisfy with the vehicle except sometime the engine can't start when the gear is in parking position. Even I feel that this is only a some problem as the engine can start easily in N position, I still send my car to Kia SC at Juru for checking on 13-9-07. I am very regret my action now as when the technician has done some checking on the engine compartment and later went inside the front seat. I was so shocked and can't believe my eyes when I saw my car suddenly move backward with a very HIGH SPEED and with the front door opened. The car stopped and immediately move forward again with about same speed but luckily only a very short distance (With the speed I saw, I only realize that the Optima was so powerful). The door had hit the concrete column at the workshop and was damaged with the front side body panel also dented as the door was forced to open 180 degrees resulting from the accident. The technician claimed that the car moved suddenly by itself when he started the engine. Even their assistant manager from India was unable to accept his excuses and consider it should be due to the negligence by the technician. The asst. manager has proposed to replace a new door and the new front side panel which he show me the cost is about 5K (including labour). I have requested him to lend me a car or pay for the car rental during the repair period as I need a car for my daily uses. He has rejected my request and proposed to handle my car to me within 2 days as they will courier the door panel from their HQ the same day. However, if I insist on the request, they have to deduct the technician salary to pay for the rental. I have given up my request as even I feel very angry, I also feel pity for the technician as it is an accident. (However, they have called me the next day that they can only handle the car to me by Tuesday as they need the adjuster to inspect the car). Since the damage has been done, what worry me now is that will they able to get the exact same colour for my car without notice that there is some repainting works. One of the lesson I learned from this incident is that never stay at the workshop while they are servicing your car as the car may knocked you down accidentally and the worst is that you will not able to claim the insurance as you are forbidden to stay at the workshop.
