Hi All! Finally took delivery of my Optima after a long hard day with Naza/Kia ppl. What happened was the SA tried to arrange delivery of another vehicle at the same time, thus delaying mine. Was informed that the place supposed to close at 5:30pm, but we insisted to get the car today. Got to call their branch manager and finally went to Rawang around 7:45pm to get my shinny black car. So far not much to complain about the car, though i realised one of the remote control not functioning well (low batt?) There's one thing I'd like to ask all Optima owners out there..... Anyone get the internal door trim as shown in their brochures (those folded leather)? Mine, strangely was fabric! Thanks in advance for your replies! Cheers! Jacky

Hi Jacky..
As for the remote control.. if u notice on the remote, there should be a red led, and it should be bright (how bright i do not know). But compare the two remotes that you have, and if 1 is dimmer than the other, than it's low batt. I don't think it is a case of faulty alarm system, as u only mention 1 of the remotes not functioning.
As for the folded leather, mine is leather but not folded (perforated)..
Anyway.. hope u find the driving experience a joy!!
;D ;D ;D

Hi Big E, Could you post a photo of your door trim pls? Mine definitely diff from the brochures. Actually planned to go to the showroom again and check the differences. I noticed one more thing today, the plastic panel below the steering have a missing screw. Wonder how they could have missed this And yupz...enjoyed the ride. So far driven some 200km already ;D All slow and steady cruising...around 100kmh. Thanks!

Mfg year was 2005, doesn't seem like showroom car, i got it with mileage around 200km. Saw one new at dealer's showroom...was 240km. I think Optima not transported wiht trailers... even for inspection, they actually drove the car fr Rawang to Setapak. Estimated travelled from Port Klang -> Rawang -> Setapak -> Rawang.
I'll snap a pix of the door trims and post it tml.
Anyway, my aircond controls are manual type, what about u guys? Anyone got the electronic climate control?

When I booked my car (still haven't taken delivery), I had asked for the standard accessories list from the Sales Manager and the SA. You know what, they couldn't give me one. They say some cars may come with ABS and EBD as standard and some without. Also some without the sunroof. I don't even know whether an alarm is standard.
Its mind boggling not to know what we're getting for the purchase. What's happening with Naza? I hope they do not take the same path as Proton. Sad, sad, sad. It'll affect the Kia Brand, their business, their stakeholders and us the eventual owners of the car.

mmmm... ALL Optima are equipped with ABS & EBD. Maybe u can let the Sales Manager & SA know this.. Sunroof is optional. But those without sunroof are eqiupped with 6-Disc CD changers.. I believe some are equipped with DVD players.. Bodykit also optional, and those with bodykits are Novus Spec, and comes with 16" alloy as standard. Limited Edition on the other hand, are equipped with indicator lights on the wing mirrors.. and also.. alarm is a standard accessory..

As for my case, the basic model (RM88k) vs Novus (RM98k): Standard for both: ABS/EBD TCS Sunroof 1/2 leather seats Novus: Wood trim steering Front and rear lips (bodykit) DVD player 16" JRD rims + local tyres ! Indicator lights on side mirrors I was told that most if not all Kia does not come with alarm. But since the showroom car has it, I made the branch mgr promise that mine also got Now I really need to go to the branch again and see their door trims.

Jacky, received my black knight yesterday. Interior door panel is similar to yours. Guess that's the current standard. Yet to determine whether real leather, synthetic or PVC.
Mine also has a slight belt noise during initial engine start-up i.e. 1-2 seconds and it dissappers. I hope its nothing major, but a bit embarrasing to have a new car squeking.

Ires,
Do a thorough inspection of your car. I've found out sevaral 'defects' on my car:
- Plastic panel below steering have missing screw - Tiny paint chip off on driver's door - Bonnet mounting alignment - Glue marks on interior - Windshield with unremovable car polish on - Ignition key hole finishings - Spare Remote control not working - Petrol pump door dented
Somehow, I feel that many of these should not happen if Kia have good QC. BTW, how's your front number plate looks like? Is it:
ABC 1234 or ABC 1234
