Most of the time, when I go thru the bump or ‘bonggols’ if I’m not careful, it will hit the car, I had to remove my forward mud guard. Now still, after crossing it with the front wheels… it bangs the car in the center. I asked the KIA service center in Taman Desa , they said they cant do anything about it and suggest for me to change from 60 to 65 diameter tires. Any suggestion/numbers to caLL. THANKS -Something like this- Nice Car...

I took my optima on Sep'07 and it is year 2005 stock clearance promotion sales by Kia dealer. So far I faced minor problem with air conditioner and cd. But it is solved. Recently I discovered that when I drive my car at speed above 120km/hr on highway and when I go through the unequal road on highway (jalan tak rata) , I found that noise from area near the front and back tyre. It's something like sound when we release the spring after we press very hard. However if the speed below 120km/hr, everything is ok.
The noise also appear when my car pass through the 'bonggol' (giant type). Is it normal sound from the absorber /suspension or something wrong with my car suspension? Anyone can give me advise? Thanks

I had that sound described by scongi, but sorry can't advise on the solution. I just let it be & lived with it.
I too had the problem of the car being too low, especially with 5 occupants in it. Already lost my front mudflap due to hitting road humps. Again, I lived with it.

Ires, at least I know this is not happen to my optima car only. It can be the normal sound from suspension/absober when it go through unequal road or bonggol (especially when your car full load with passenger) I guess only. Anyone else can confirm? Anyway when I free I will checked with my SC in Bukit Raja Klang.
My front mudguard also gone after hitting the bonggol. I dun think to replace since it easily hit the bonggol.

Yes scongi, that's the idea i.e. to let you that you're not alone in this misadventure of the Optima. The suspension is soft & the car sits low. Becareful also when going over short, but steep slope like when you're entering those car parks. You may hit the slope with your front skirt or your rear end of the exhaust may graze the ground. It happen to me at Low Yat before. Despite all these, I consider them minor hiccups, because the car is comformtable to drive as long as you don't go into corners fast. Body roll is apparent.
If you have the money, you can change to a different absorber set-up which other members can advice.

Hi, I strongly advise you to go to absorber specialist. I facing this problem before. After sent to the workshop and make the absorber a little bit harder, no more problem when hit the bonggol.

Thanks for all the reply about my suspension problem. Finally I found that the noise is come from the 'geseran' between the bottom of mudguard with the surface of road. This also only happened because the mudguard already spoiled and halfly hanging on my car. So when it go throu 'bonggol' or unequal road it would touch the road.
I take out the mudguard and now the noise is gone. However, please carefull when go throu the 'bonggol' as if absorber is spoil it can cause us a lot of $$$$.
